| Avery was my pick puppy from the 2005 Bird litter, she had a face that just stopped me in my tracks. She was small but I really do love the Whippets at the smaller end of the standard, it's so much easier in the ring to lift them up onto the table that way. She started lure coursing at the end of 2006 and then missed most of the spring trials due to being in season, but managed to pick up 3 points for a second place finish in August 2007. After that she picked up another 4 points to bring her total to 7. She had also stared her race career with a couple of NOTRA race meets finishing her OTR and CR titles. She ran in the JRRWA NOTRA meet the day before she died. Avery finished her beginner obedience class on July 11, 2007 and had started her agility career, running in Jumpers with weaves at three trials. She had to substitute for Ruby in the Canine Good Citizen class when Ruby came in season in the fall of 2007, and she passed the CGC test on October 1st, 2007. Since I was going to a number of Rally Obedience trials in the fall of 2008 anyway, I decided to put in an entry for her as well, and she managed to pick up her RN title in three straight trials. At just about 18-1/4 inches tall, she weighed in at 23 pounds I can't even put into words how much I'm going to miss her. Avery's memorial ad in the Whippet News |
