From Tracey:

I had to put my oldest dog, Jetta, to sleep this morning. She was diagnosed with congestive
heart failure and given 3 months to live. She made it over a year! I believe she had the best
care between me and my Vet, who is a sighthound expert.

The last couple of days, she was having trouble breathing, she was coughing, and her
abdomen started to distend. Last night she was wheezing and having trouble breathing and
resting. She started to grimace and lick me, trying to ask me for help. I took her in and, just to
be sure, i had an x-ray done. Sure enough, her heart was 3 times larger than a year ago and
her abdomen was now filled with fluid from the leaky valve. This was squeezing her liver as
well.  This helped me make my final decision to let her go peacefully by putting her to sleep.

She was a special little dog, so intuitive, so loving. I know she made it to her 10th birthday, 2
weeks ago, and i am grateful as well as god giving me 9 extra months to spend with her.
During the extra time, she got to play with other dogs, go for rides in the car, eat like a pig,
and sleep right next to me. I am truly grateful for the extra time.

I will miss you Jetta  "Sandstone's Devil In Disguise JC"

Hi Joanne:

I found this
Kipling Poem and it describes my love and hope for Jetta. Maybe you
can add it somewhere to your site for others who mourn their pups....Thanks so
much, i love that you have a tribute to our special little girl on your page. Attached
is a pic for you of Mellie and Finley...both adopted through
WRAP..they are
snoozing, down in the dumps, depressed for their pal, Jetta

We all miss her so much. My priest gave her a little mass tonight in the church after
a meeting (i got her ashes back today) and he blessed her and someone read the
Kipling poem.  It was so nice to have them understand how important she was.

Hugs, Tracey
