February 23, 2007 - Sadly puppy #3 started to fail within the first 24 hours of birth and faded
away in spite of all Jennifer's hard work trying to keep him alive.  Jennifer, David and their
vet are all devastated that they couldn't save him.  I believe that there was a small child in
heaven that really needed a puppy to make them happy and our little boy is filling that
responsibility now.  We will miss him.

The puppies are here!  Sunny delivered four healthy puppies overnight.  Three boys
and a girl.  The first was born at 2:41 am with the others following close on their heels, and
she was all done within 2 hours!

February 17, 2007 -

I learned this afternoon that Cosmo lost his battle with lymphoma on
2/6/07 at the tender age of 19 months.  Our condolences go out to the
Fitch family on their loss.  Cosmo was by  Aren out of Chase (Fch Kismet's
Purple Haze, Fch, SC x Chesara Jaytea Storm Chaser, JC) .  A very good
friend of mine lost a 17 month old Australian Shepherd puppy to
lymphoma nearly a year ago and one thing I learned is that the scientific
community does not think that there is any genetic component in this
disease as littermates to affected dogs are perfectly healthy.

I attended a Joanne Plum Fleming obedience seminar today and she is a proponent of the
"Nothing in Life is Free" method of training.  Unless Kira performed 100% correctly, there
was no reward.  If she wasn't paying attention to me, I turned and walked away from her.
We got three times out on the floor and each time her heeling improved, and by the end of
the day she was Wonderful!  If only I could remember half of what I learned, we'd have that
CD in no time.

February 4, 2007 - Boardwalk KC show, Wildwood, NJ

We got up in the middle of the night and made the 4-1/2 hour drive to Wildwood, New
Jersey to show to judge Joe Gregory.  This show was held at a new site (4 year old
convention center) and while there was lots of room, the rings were small.  The floor was
VERY slippery.

Aren was RWD and Kate was RWB in her very first show.

Marseille must have looked very small to the judge as he called for the wicket and
measured her.  Of course I knew that she would measure in even though she doesn't have
much room to spare at age almost 18 months.  Just goes to show that there aren't many
Whippets being shown that are near the bottom of the height standard.
