March 31, 2007 - Ripley went to race practice with George & Michelle
Evans, reports are that he learned how to box quickly and easily, and
got the hang of straight racing (the lure isn't going to turn) quickly, and
he's ready to enter his first race meet!  The boy's gonna have fun!

Mia and family went to Leesburg, VA and were able to get Mia's ASFA
certification, although not without some trouble.
Lesson learned!

March 25, 2007 - Lure coursing again today, ASFA this time.  It was
Painter's first ASFA trial and he ran OK on his first run, but really well
on his second run.  (Much better than his score showed)  I think it was
the best run I'd seen out of the boy to date.  His new owner, Tabby,
slipped him and he did her proud.
Steve Surfman got some good
pictures of him and I may just have to buy some of them!  Also ran
were Aren, Greyhound Ruby and Saluki Zuli.  Ruby won over the only
other Greyhound entered, but earned her 4th first placement towards
her LCM, now we just have to accumulate the 300 points.  The trial
was small and there was time afterwards for Marseille to run with
Painter for her ASFA certification, so now she's ready to enter.

March 18, 2007 - It's a rare trial that I attend with 4 dogs entered and
don't  bring home points on any of them, but that's what happened
today.
Marseille got her second JC leg today,  we came home with no
injuries and the dogs all had fun.  I also got to meet Sunny's puppies
in person, that was a real treat.  It was a delightful day.

March 17, 2007 - Just got word from Michelle & George Evans that
their
Ripley (Chesara Jaytea Ptarmigan, Fch, JC)  finished his JC this
morning, and then ran  in the trial, winning an Open Stake of 18 for a 5
point major and then winning Best of Breed on top of that.  Way to go
Ripley!

March 11, 2007 -  Clear blue sky, temperatures in the 50s, ground
was wet & soft, but not soggy.  Wonderful day to spend racing with
good people and wonderful dogs.   I had Kira and Aren entered in the
WRA meet put on by the Jersey Rag Racers Whippet Association.  It
was our first event of 2007 and we were all out of shape after a long
winter being couped up in the house.  It was a 51 dog meet and Aren
finished 27th.  Kira, in her first meet as a veteran, brought home the
"Turtle Award" for being the dog with the lowest score that finished all
four programs.   We had a wonderful day, and I got quite a work out
from walking up and down the track!

It was also a bit of a bittersweet day for me too, as
Painter (Chesara
Shakara Panic in Detroit, SC) went home with the Fitch family.
Technically he's on a two week trial, but we all know that he'll be a
permanent member of their family.  I'll certainly miss his boinking me
in the eye with his nose as a greeting every time I saw him.
