Resources
I plan on adding to this page as I can, there
are a whole lot of information and links I'd
like to keep handy, so check back from time
to time.
Lost dog:
Socializing:
For those living in the Washington, DC suburban area, there is a group of Whippet people
that collectively call themselves the Whippet Play Date Club that get together about once a
month to do fun things with their dogs. Sign up for their e-mail list to find out what's being
planned for the next outing. I'm going to try to post the current plans each month, but I make
no guarantees.
Medical:
Behavior & training:
Greythealth is a web site written for Greyhound owners, but most of the information can be
applied to all sighthounds.
Corns or warts on pads Corns on a dog's pads can be very painful and cause the dog to
limp, which can lead to a whole host of other issues as the dog starts to try and
compensate for not using the effected foot.
Seizures - here is a great web site with lots of information on seizures! Thankfully seizures
are not very common but they sure are frightening when they do happen! More.
Choking - Heimlich For Your Dog - (Ignore the Image Viewer, it's just an ad.)
Tick Links - instructions on subscribing to Tick-L e-mail list, and articles on many of the
different tick diseases.
Vaccinations - The owner/author of this site has been hailed as a hero, and reviled as a
kook, take a look and judge for yourself
Canine Leptospirosis - a growing threat
Pythiosis - is a fungal like organism that infects several species including dogs and causes
death in the vast majority of cases.
The Flying Dog Press web site has an extensive list of articles by Suzanne Clothier which
are excellent resources for general training, and understanding dog behavior
Financial assistance:
