| We went to a dog show with every intention of doing some shopping, but came home with a puppy instead. That's how Sioux came into our lives the weekend after Thanksgiving in 2003. This boy had about the best temperament of any dog I've ever encountered. He was the definition of 'easy to live with' and loved to play ball! He was one of the few Whippets who was a natural retriever and would have done well in the obedience ring. Sioux and I won Best Puppy at the Jersey Rag Racer's versatility match in 2004. After that, with Charlene at the end of the lead, Sioux won Best of Breed under judge Vicki Steedle at the Chesapeake Kennel Club of Maryland show in November of 2006 from the Bred-By class, and helped win the team conformation class at the Whippet National in Kansas City in April 2007. He finished his Senior Courser title at the THLC trial on June 14, 2008, and had also earned his Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent titles. He was close to being ready to compete for his Novice obedience title (CD). Sioux's picture was also chosen by the Pet Prints publisher for their 2007 Whippet Calendar. In 2005 Sioux went back to live with his breeders, Charlene Stone and Bart Lowans, and his litter sister, brother and mother in Pennsylvania where he lived happily until he lost his battle with hemolytic anemia. We are all heart broken to loose this sweet sweet boy at such a young age. |
