Therapy
Doing pet therapy is what led me to Whippets in the first place.  I had been
visiting a local nursing home with my Greyhounds for several years as
volunteers for Pets on Wheels.  I wanted another dog that was small enough to
go up on the beds of residents.  First
Parker, and then Bagel, filled the bill.
Both of them were registered Pet Partners with the Delta Society.

Whippets make such great therapy dogs that the very first winner of the AKC's
Award of Canine Excellence (ACE) for therapy work was a whippet,
Willow, who
just happened to be a niece of Bagel.

This picture of Bagel and me was in the Salisbury Daily Times on
February 19, 1999.  Mr. Gilbert Heath always liked to feed Bagel, a
trait he shared with many of the residents.  A number of people
kept a box of dog treats in their rooms just for our visits.
