Avery's agility class August 7, 2007
I suppose I should check the phase of the moon, but it seems that several light bulbs went off in Avery's head since our previous agility class. She went right through a long tunnel with a 90 degree turn in it followed by a jump with a 180 turn back to the A-frame! Granted, the A-frame was lowered so it wasn't even as high as the top of the refrigerator, where she's quite comfortable, but she went right up and over. Just a week prior to that she was balking at going through a 4 foot straight tunnel. I don't know what happened, but boy it sure was fun! (I've reallly missed having an agility dog since Zuli spoiled her agility career.) I just need to have a quiet word with our instructor about pushing her too hard. We all know that you can't drill a sighthound the way you can a Corgi or a Border Collie. Twice through, done well, and then quit, since if you try to do it a third time, they'll figure that they've done it wrong & offer you different (incorrect) behaviors. Then it just gest worse and worse. Better to quit with them wanting more. I'm sure looking forward to next week's class though. I hope it's cooler by then. ~~Joanne 2007-08-10 01:14:38 GMT
