This was one of the best days I've had in almost a year. Today Derby got a clean bill of health on his heart. Last November at a cardiac clinic the vet heard a murmur when he listened to Derby's heart and recommended that we re-test in 6 months, as it could have been a puppy murmur that he'd grow out of. So in April of this year I took him to a second clinic where a second cardiologist listened to his heart and still heard a murmur that came and went. He recommended that we follow up with the echocardiogram. Boy am I glad that I did. This was the third cardiologist to examine Derby and this one also heard the murmur, graded 2 out of 6 (which is very mild) and I think from his tone of voice that he expected to find some abnormalities with the echo, but there weren't any. Yipee! I had brought OFA forms with me & the vet signed off on them. I was so excited that I stopped at my office on my way home to make a copy of the report & got the papers in the mail to OFA. I'm just so relieved that he's really OK. What a great weekend. I had Saluki Zuli tested also & she too is perfectly normal, but then I expected that result for her. ~~~Joanne 2007-09-11 02:47:49 GMT
