September 27, 2007 - Greyhound National Specialty - Day 2
About half the dogs that were entered in the Specialty conformation were also entered on Thursday, including Ruby. I had entered thinking the judge would like Ruby as he'd given her reserve to a major before, but we got left out of the ribbons, so evidently he had given the reserve to the handler I'd hired rather than to Ruby.
The afternoon was taken up with the Greyhound Specialty Lure Coursing Trial. I didn't expect Ruby to run very well since she was just out of season, and she ran about like I expected and finished out of the ribbons. I got drafted to field clerk for the Open Stake since I didn't have a dog running in that stake. It was an education! Not too difficult once you get the hang of it and good experience since I'm going to be the field trial secretary for the JRRWA ASFA trial in November. Parker, Bagel, Kira & Derby stayed behind at Connie & Gene's house and they got to spend most of the afternoon out in the BIG yard checking everything out & the youngsters got to play frisby. Connie tells me that Derby got the hang of bringing the frisby back pretty quickly and he was VERY good at catching it. Another lovely day in upstate New York. ~~Joanne 2007-10-11 18:05:27 GMT
