For the first time in probably 12 years, I skipped the Mispillion dog show today, and took a van full of dogs up to New Jersey for a NOTRA race meet. Boy was I busy! I had entered Ruby and Zuli (looking for those points on Zuli!) and also entered 5 Whippets! What WAS I thinking???

We had a total Whippet entry of 21 so that was really good for an all breed meet, as the day before they didn't have the required 15 Whippets to make an official meet. This was Derby's very first race meet and he did much better in the starting box than his sister Avery had done in her first meet. He did manage to get himself off course (on the inside of the track) in his first race, but he finished his races in the second and third programs, so I suspect that he'll never go off course again through his entire racing career.

What a great day, weather was perfect, and Zuli did get her one point, and I think Ruby got a point too. That was an unexpected pleasure. All my Whippets finished in the bottom half of the meet, and Marseille got the Turtle Award again. She's going to be fun!
