They say that a bad day at a dog show is better than a good day at work, so using that definition, it was a good day. I had entered Kira, Aren & Marseille at two trials up in Reading, PA with plans to spend the night with my friends Tom & Leslie Carroll who live up in that area. I had Kira entered in obedience and Aren & Marseille entered in Rally.
Kira had one of the BEST heeling exercises she's EVER had in the ring and I was feeling pretty good - a little too good evidently, as she broke her sit-stay and followed me across the ring. I could have shot her, but she got NO reward for that performance. Aren did well & scored an 84 in the Rally ring for his second Rally Novice leg and by the time Marseille got in the ring, conditions in the building had gone down hill considerably. The Group ring was right next to the Rally ring & people were crowded about & clapping etc. and there was just NO way she was going to lay down under those circumstances. But I continued on & we finished the course & the judge was feeling kindly towards us and gave us a score of 70, which qualified Marseille for her first Rally Novice leg. Getting two legs out of three entries isn't bad any day, just wasn't the leg that I really wanted. I got lost trying to get out of Reading, but eventually found my way to the Carroll residence for some good food and good company. Between extra crates they had & extra crates I had with me I was able to bring all the dogs into the house for the night, so no worries about below freezing temperatures. ~~Joanne 2008-12-02 19:52:32 GMT
