This evening Kira and I attended the first class of our second session of obedience classes for the winter.  Much to my surprise our new custom made dumbbells were there.  Evidently the man that makes them put them all in one box and shipped them to the person that did the measuring for us.  My first thought was that we should start using them immediately, but I quickly discovered that it's going to take more adjustment on my part than on Kira's!  The 'bounce' when I throw it is way different from the old 'off the shelf' dumbbell we've been using.  The nice part is that Kira seemed to be more willing to hold the new one than the old one, heck she actually wants to snatch it out of my hands so she can trade it for a treat.  That's the game.

When I got home I showed the new dumbbell to Avery & Marseille & while they sniffed at it, neither of them were inclined to take it in their mouths.  Aren, on the other hand, grabbed his & ran off to the living room with it and I had to go rescue it before it became a chew toy.  I'll be starting to do some dumbbell work with him right along with the Novice obedience work so that we won't have the long lead time between him earning his CD and when he can start entering in Open.

It was a long evening, as our instructor always runs over the hour we're scheduled for, but nobody leaves!  I figure if we're getting nearly an hour and a half of class time each week, that brings the price of the classes down to a much more reasonable price!
