Obedience

OB training was interesting.  I found out that you don't "train" a
sighthound.  You "negotiate" with a Sighthound :-)

As Lisa hinted at, obedience training with any sighthound can be quite the
challenge, and each breed presents their own training challenges.  I learned
with my Greyhound that repetition and drilling only made things worse.
When a sighthound gets an exercise or a segment of an exercise correct,
quit!  If you ask them to do it again, they'll do something different, so quit
while you're both ahead.

It seems that every dog has at least some problems in heeling, but the
problem I've run into with training Kira is that she doesn't  like to stay all the
way across the ring from me.  Teaching the stays has been a long gradual
process.  It's very important to teach duration first, and then distance and
don't rush it.

People NEED repetition!

Sighthounds DON'T!
